BEFORE

This homeowner was tired of her outdated laundry room and half bath. A plan and work schedule was set in place and Duchess Home Repair & Renovation got to work.

DURING

A sub-floor was installed to make the room level with the rest of the house prior to laying new vinyl flooring. We worked from the ground up to update and brighten the space.

AFTER

New floors, trim, vanity & toilet. A happy homeowner and another job complete.

A little bit about us

“While Duchess is open to working with all individuals, our goal is to cater to women and seniors who have been putting off those odd jobs and small renovations for too long.”

Creating storage in this outdated bathroom

The sloped ceiling in this bathroom created major problems for the homeowner. Mainly, there was no pre-built cabinet that would fit in the space.

The doors (38”) were quite large, so in our goal to keep the farmhouse look we added barn door sliders. This also saved space not needing to swing them open.

New vanity, toilet and trim were installed along with a fresh coat of paint.

New Shower

Using a pre-fab shower base we then brought this shower to life with a sleek dark tile and clear glass doors.

Prepping involved installing vapor barrier, cement board & aqua defense prior to tile installation.

A beautiful accent bench & storage

Creating a custom wood bench with half-lapped cedar legs was the starting point for this built in storage area.

The customer wanted some extra space as well as seating for this large front entrance. The base of the cabinet was left open to the floor for wet winter boots as well as to not take away from this beautiful tile floor.

This old farmhouse gets updated!

Original exposed beams are hard to come by, and also can be hard to work around. Keeping the character of this house was key so while this railing was a challenge, both the homeowner and Duchess are happy with the result.

An old staircase gets a facelift

The risers on these old stairs were very worn out, so we covered them with hardboard and added some caulk & paint.

Save money: Instead of replacing the stair treads we painted them with Porch & Floor paint.

An old bathroom gets a facelift.

This bathroom was updated with a new vanity, medicine cabinet, toilet seat, fresh coat of paint, window blind & flooring. Our before picture is not the greatest, but you can still see the difference.

Save money: Instead of replacing the entire toilet we replaced a few parts and bought a new toilet seat.

Warm welcome with this mud room transformation

The homeowner was tired of this dark and cold entry into her home. Once the ceiling was insulated and vapor barriered we were able brighten up the space by installing wainscotting on the walls and ceiling. Trim, chair rail and a new floor brought the room together for a clean, warm & inviting new entryway.
